Mathematical Modelling — Translating Reality into Math

Mathematical modelling is the art of turning a real-world situation into equations we can analyse, simulate and validate.

The Modelling Cycle

  1. Identify the problem.
  2. Make simplifying assumptions.
  3. Build the model (equations).
  4. Solve analytically or numerically.
  5. Interpret and validate.
  6. Refine the model.
